The ultrasound.
I had the ultrasound yesterday. All of the measurements and everything are normal for 16 weeks. So I'm not 3 weeks early like the doctors thought. I still think it’s weird that two separate doctors thought that I felt further along. I think it was due to the placement of my uterus, so perhaps it is just naturally a bit higher than normal. But we got to see the baby! He/She was squirming around heaps, it was so gorgeous. It was the most amazing thing ever. And we get to do it again in 3-4 weeks! :o) The doctor printed out three photos for us, I’ll scan them and post them here tomorrow (hubby has them today, he’s showing people at work).
I like the 8th of January due date, anyway. It would be a bit awkward to have the baby so close to Christmas. Of course, it could still happen that way – I could be early, or late. Just depends on when the baby decides it wants to meet us. :o)
Ultrasounds are wonderful, but the hours before an ultrasound are horrible. They make you drink 1 litre of water, 1 1/2 hours beforehand. And you have to hold it in until after the ultrasound. Oh my goodness, it is not easy. Especially for a pregnant woman! To make matters worse, I had to wait for an extra half hour before I could go in. So I was standing in the waiting room (sitting doesn’t work for me when I need the toilet), and kind of moving around. I tried to be inconspicuous, but I bet it was so obvious that I was busting. But I got through it, and it was a fabulous experience.
So I’m ecstatically happy. I’ve felt the baby move a bit. There have been times I’ve felt some fluttering, and times I’ve felt like there were bubbles bursting inside me (once I even heard bubbles, and I don’t know if that’s normal or not…). I’m showing heaps, too. The ultrasound doctor said, before the ultrasound began, that I look like 19 weeks. So for some reason, I am huge. :o) Or, bigger than other people are at 16 weeks. I’ve been eating so healthily, though, so it can’t be bad. My body’s probably just adjusting to pregnancy a little differently than some other people. Everyone’s different.
Today is one of those days that I want to have the baby NOW! Why can’t I just fast-forward 5 months? I’m not the most patient person, as you may have realised. :o)
